Morgan Nagel has been a part-time Town Councillor for 12 years, while he built up an impressive career in other areas:

BA Economics from the University of Calgary.
Successfully completed Chartered Financial Analyst Level 1.
Worked for the Minister of Public Safety on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
First elected to Town Council at 23 in 2013, and has consistently advocated for slower growth, lower taxes and investment in traffic infrastructure.
Led Youth & Student Programs at the Manning Centre for Building Democracy.
Digital Communications Manager for the small team that successfully built & elected the United Conservative Party of Alberta.
Founded a Digital Marketing & Software Development company that has reached 1 billion views, clicks and impressions.
Leads a 14 person team of programmers & artists making video games.
Ready to become the full-time Mayor of Cochrane.

Our Mission

Professional Experience

Back in 2013 Morgan Justice Nagel was elected to Town Council as one of Canada’s youngest elected officials and he has been standing up for Cochrane’s residents ever since.

Since then, he has served three terms as an outspoken advocate for financial responsibility, investment in traffic infrastructure, and above all else: preserving Cochrane’s small-town charm. After 12 years in the part-time Councillor role, he’s decided it is time to go all-in, and he’s running to make a real change in Cochrane’s government as your full-time Mayor.

With extensive business and government experience, Nagel has demonstrated the qualifications to lead our municipal government. In 2019, Nagel successfully founded his own digital communications and software development company, Jumping Pound Digital, which he named after the creek behind his childhood home.

Through Jumping Pound Digital, Nagel leads high-profile online public relations campaigns on behalf of Canada’s largest oil and gas companies. His company has also developed financial software used in car dealerships, and he leads a team of developers that makes video games sold worldwide in 14 languages.

Before founding his company, Nagel also worked in other levels of Canada’s government. In 2012, he worked on Parliament Hill with the Conservative Party of Canada when Stephen Harper was our Prime Minister. After that, he was one of the founding staff members on the 15-person team that successfully built and elected the United Conservative Party of Alberta.

Personal Background

Prior to all of his above experience, Morgan spent his young adulthood and youth working in a large number of other fields including:

farming,
ranching,
construction
and food & beverage service.

Now 35 years old, Morgan has called Cochrane home since his high school days in 2004. His driving motivation for running to be the Mayor is to help keep Cochrane the same wonderful town that he grew up in, so that he and the rest of Cochrane’s families can continue enjoying the lifestyle we all appreciate.

Morgan Nagel holds a BA in Economics from the University of Calgary.

He and his wife, Miranda, now live in Fireside with their two dogs, Wally and Maple.
